  30. might be a feature, maybe of Samba, or some other add-on to NT.

  36. No.  Aliases allow you to use a made-up command for another one (for
  37. example, type "d" for dir/list).
  38. I am a little embarassed to say I do not really know what shadows are.
  39. I've seen them mentioned a couple of times in the Unix world, but never
  40. used them, or tried to find out what they were.  Maybe you can teach me.

  42. Links (in both the Unix and Amiga world - yes WE had that, but never used
  43. them.  Its implementation was a little bit awkward and limited, since
  44. both files had to be in the same volume) is the ability to create a file
  45. with a size of 0, which actually points to another file in your hard 
  46. disk.
  47. So, whenever a program tries to read this fake file or dir, it will 
  48. actually
  49. read the other, full file instead.  In Unix (if you do FTP, you probably
  50. have seen this), this is shown as something like this:
